For applicants age 62 and older, we measure two things: whether this lender denies them more often than its own lending patterns would predict after accounting for loan size, income, debt-to-income ratio, and loan type; and whether it lends to them at rates similar to comparable lenders. Rocket pioneered online mortgage lending, and its digital experience is still standard-setting. It offers a wide range of mortgage types and ways to save money, especially for lower-income buyers: its ONE+ program covers 2% of a down payment (up to $7,000) on top of a 1% down conventional loan, and its RateBreak program offers a temporary buydown — both limited to buyers earning at or below 80% of their area’s median income, on loans up to $350,000.
Rocket earns a 4-star Bankrate Rating despite a 2-star Overall Rating: the bids it places in Bankrate’s auction are competitive, but the lender is less competitive across its full portfolio. Its pricing is about average — roughly half its 2025 mortgages were priced below comparable loans — but it charges less in added costs than fewer than 20% of comparable lenders over eight years. That means added costs can be substantial with Rocket. It doesn’t log many origination-related CFPB complaints in 2025, but when a complaint was filed, only 3% ended in relief for the borrower.
You can earn closing credits by using a real estate agent affiliated with Rocket Homes. A pending class-action lawsuit, filed in January 2026, alleges Rocket steered borrowers through Rocket Homes into costlier loans as part of a 35% agent referral-fee arrangement; Rocket has moved to dismiss, and the case remains active.

They bought my home loan out and I have never missed a payment in 2 years then they say they can't find the money where I have bank account where they took it from they want me to make another payment and them not find where my frist payment went and they want work with me to stop it from showing late

Absolutely terrible service
After paying off my mortgage in April, a Discharge is supposed to be sent to our County Clerk within 1 month. 5 months later we still do not have a discharge, stating our loan is paid in full. I cannot complete the sale of our house without it and the buyers are ready to back out of the deal. Rocket does not care. We speak to them on the phone everyday, even asking for a supervisor and we always get the same answer; WE ARE WORKING ON IT! They keep us on the phone for hours just to transfer to a supervisor and then we repeat this each day. We have filed a complaint with DFS (The Department of Financial Services) but Rocket does not care one bit about us. We are at the mercy of this ridiculous company. Please if you read this - DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ROCKET MORTGAGE!! We are filing a law suit and can only warn others.

False communication/Lies
Hello… just reaching out to let everybody know how horrible of experience I had with a refi! Did all the paperwork.. everything needed. They needed another and another and another. After saying everything is good to go and charged us an appraisal fee which they said was waived in application and confirmed multiple times and wanted to still charge us anyway of $500. Not professional at all just telling you what you want to hear to get you in. Stating everything is done and easy to go and then says lies after lie. I would appreciate my refund back as I should have not been charged. I’ll go ahead and enter a claim! Word gets around! Not treating with respect at all as everything was funny to customer service and not right and not a happy customer at all that will never give rocket mortgage another chance and hopefully nobody makes a mistake like this.. beware!!!
