Want to express your opinions and complaints about
the credit reporting system? You've got until May 22 to speak your
peace.
Federal financial regulatory agencies
want to find out about those errors on your credit reports and how
they can help fix them. The agencies are developing guidelines and
rules on accuracy and integrity required under the Section 312 rule
in the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003.
| Ever find faulty information
on your credit report? If so, the federal government wants
to hear from you. |

In general, it's important for consumers providing
comments to the agencies to include in the body of the letter the
docket number and/or regulatory number, the name of the agency,
the specified heading or subject line and person's contact information
such as name, address and phone number.
Consumers sending comments via the U.S. Postal Service
or delivering the information in person are encouraged to include
on the front of the envelope the docket number and/or regulatory
number and the specified heading/subject line. The same information
is encouraged when sending the comments via e-mail.
Comments will not be edited to remove any identifying
or contact information. However, the Federal Trade Commission will
make an effort to remove home contact information for comments it
receives before posting them on its Web site. Background documents
and the project summary are also available. Participants' comments
can also be viewed.
