Take a tour of the mortgage app

Bankrate's Mortgage app is now available for iPad, iPhone, Windows and Android. Today I'd like to take you on a tour of the features.

On the home screen, you'll have quick access to our basic Mortgage Calculator, rate trends, and if you're in the mood to read or watch videos, you'll find the latest news, advice and blogs.

By tapping on Mortgage Calculator, found on the left side of the screen, you can fine-tune your mortgage calculations. Adjust the sliders or type in the terms of your loan then add in your taxes and insurance to see your total monthly payment and where it's going. When you're happy with your calculations, you can save them for later.

To find the very best rates, tap on Rates and Payments on the left side of the screen. Enter the loan amount, type of loan you're looking for, and make a rough estimate of your credit score. Then click "find rates" to compare lenders in your area side-by-side or save your search.

News and Advice is a great place to start researching your upcoming home purchase or refi. Here you'll find Bankrate's award-winning editorial content that covers every step of the homebuying process. News, blogs and videos walk you through shopping for a home, getting approved for a loan, refinancing and so much more.

Finally, tap on "saved searches" to pull up your previous work on the calculator or the rates and payments screen.

We hope you enjoy the app and find it a useful sidekick in researching homeownership and finding a home loan. The Bankrate Mortgage App is available for iPad, iPhone, Windows and Android. You can find download links at or by simply visiting any of the app stores and searching for keyword "Bankrate." For, I'm Greg McBride.
