Getting a refund on a new car

Tara Baukus Melloq_v2.gifDear Driving for Dollars,
I bought a car seven days ago and the car went on sale today for $9,000 cheaper. Is there any way I can get the vehicle cheaper?
-- Brian

a_v2.gifDear Brian,
You're right, $9,000 is a huge difference, but you are probably out of luck. Unless the dealer offered some sort of satisfaction guarantee and you are still within that time frame, then the most you can do is argue some sort of malicious business practice with your state attorney general. That's likely to be a rough road unless you have some good evidence you were intentionally overcharged. In the future, always consult a reliable, independent pricing site such as Edmunds.com, Kelley Blue Book or NADAguides.com to determine what you should be paying for any new or used car before you sign on the dotted line.

If you have a car question, e-mail it to us at Driving for Dollars.
