What types of life insurance does AIG offer?

AIG offers a number of life insurance options designed to provide customers with financial stability in the event that the worst happens. AIG life insurance protects you and your family financially if you pass away, or you’re diagnosed with a terminal illness. AIG offers 4 types of life insurance cover:

Term life insurance provides life cover for a defined period of time, protecting you and your family financially for the length of the term. If you pass away during the term, you’ll receive a lump-sum payment.

If you want to protect your family financially but you don’t want to opt for a lump sum payment option, family income benefit can provide an alternative. Rather than a lump sum, family income benefit pays the policy benefit in monthly instalments.

Life Start offers individuals who want to have life cover at a lower initial cost the chance to take out a policy with lower initial monthly premiums than standard life cover. The premiums will then increase over time, however policyholders do have the option not to accept an increase (which may reduce the policy benefit).

If you need life cover in a short space of time, instant life insurance offers instant cover with no medical evidence required.

AIG Critical Illness Cover

AIG Critical Illness Cover provides the peace of mind that your finances are looked after if you are diagnosed with a critical illness covered by the policy. You can choose how much cover you want, as well as deciding how you spend the money if you do become critically ill. AIG covers over 100 conditions, illnesses and operations automatically.

When you take out critical illness cover, your children are automatically covered under your critical illness policy. This means that should one of your children become seriously ill, the cover will provide you with the financial security to take time off work to spend with your family when you most need it.

You can also add additional protection to any critical illness protection with AIG. This includes the option to add cover for total permanent disability and total disability. The purpose of disability cover is to help you financially if you are too ill to work for a period longer than 26 weeks.

AIG Whole of Life Insurance

If you’re looking for life cover which doesn’t have an end date, whole of life insurance can ensure you have life cover however old you are. You can take out whole of life cover and use the benefit for whatever purpose you wish. For example, the whole of life benefit can be used to fund a funeral and take the financial pressure off your surviving family members.

Additionally, AIG offers Care Cover with Whole of Life Insurance. With Care Cover, as long as you meet the insurer’s criteria, then up to £300,000 can be paid from the policy to fund any essential care required in later life.

What other protection is available with AIG?

AIG Income Protection offers policyholders the option to receive a regular monthly benefit if you’re unable to work as a result of illness or injury. Income protection can help families to meet their financial obligations for a defined period of time if the policyholder isn’t able to carry out their job or other daily activities.

AIG offers the option of a Waiver of Premium, which can be added on to your life policy. A Waiver of Premium ensures that you can continue to pay your premiums if you become unwell and unable to work due to injury or illness. The Waiver of Premium protects your life cover when you may not be able to pay the premiums.

Why choose AIG life insurance?

All AIG life protection policies come with unlimited access to Smart Health, which includes a range of health and wellbeing services. With Smart Health, policyholders have 24/7 access to a GP, either online or by phone around the clock at no extra cost. Smart Health also includes personalised fitness plans, nutrition advice as well as mental health support for policyholders.

AIG has a funeral pledge whereby it pays up to £10,000 of a valid claim towards the cost of a funeral if the claim process is delayed, for example by probate. The funeral pledge can offer grieving families a way to help fund a funeral at a traumatic time without financial difficulties.

How to contact AIG

AIG doesn’t offer insurance directly to the public. Instead, AIG works with select partners and financial advisers to provide cover to individuals. If you’re not sure which type of life cover you need, you can speak to LifeSearch, a national advice broker, or Unbiased, to find a financial adviser.

If you don’t require financial advice and you know what cover you need, you can contact AIG partners directly. You can speak to Churchill, Direct Line or Reassured to find out more and apply for life insurance and critical illness cover, amongst other protection policies.
