How Ryan Seacrest’s net worth was built

Ryan Seacrest — just announced as Kelly Ripa’s new co-host on daytime TV’s “Live” — got an early start on his way to becoming one of the most familiar faces and voices in broadcasting. As a teenager, he decided to pursue a career in radio and got an internship at WSTR in his hometown of Atlanta.

In the mid-1990s, he left for Los Angeles, where he hosted the popular afternoon radio show, “Ryan Seacrest for the Ride Home.” Seacrest started getting work hosting television specials, and in 2002 he landed the role that would make him famous: host of the enormously popular TV singing competition, “American Idol.”

He also hosts radio’s “American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest” each weekend, following in the footsteps of his idol, the late Casey Kasem.

In another role, he earns money as a TV producer, of shows such as “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and “E! Live from the Red Carpet.” Plus, he hosts “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest” each year.

As of May 2017, Ryan Seacrest’s net worth was $350 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

What he’s up to now

Seacrest is moving from Los Angeles to New York for his new gig on “Live,” where he had been a frequent guest co-host. He has good chemistry with his friend Ripa, who was without a regular partner on the syndicated chat show since Michael Strahan departed for ABC’s “Good Morning America” last year.

Seacrest’s work with “American Idol” wrapped up when that program ended in 2016. He continues hosting his weekday and weekend radio shows and plans to keep them going from his new home base on the East Coast.

He also pops up on TV hosting other events, including the Olympics and red-carpet pre-awards shows on the E! cable channel.

Seacrest won his first Daytime Emmy as part of the team for the Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade in 2006, and he picked up a Primetime Emmy for his work on “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution” in 2010. His other industry honors include two Teen Choice Awards.

Seacrest received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005 and a spot on Forbes’ “Celebrity 100” list in 2016.

TV news anchor Megyn Kelly has built a net worth that’s expected to grow in 2017 after moving to NBC, but it’s considerably less than Seacrest’s.
