Some globetrotters may get a culture shock when they pull out their traditional magnetic-stripe credit cards. More countries are adopting EMV credit cards, which stands for Europay, MasterCard and Visa. The cards contain an embedded microchip, and merchants in these places may reject a mag-strip card.
