Capital works as a bulwark against losses and as protection for members during times of economic instability for the credit union. Therefore, when it comes to measuring an a credit union's financial resilience, capital is useful. When looking at safety and soundness, the higher the capital, the better.
On our test to measure capital adequacy, ZELLCO achieved a score of 30 out of a possible 30 points, better than the national average of 15.65.
ZELLCO had a capitalization ratio of 30.00 percent in our test, above the average for all credit unions, an indication that it's more well prepared for financial trouble than its peers.
