Earnings can be retained by the credit union, giving a boost to its capital cushion, or be used to address problematic loans, potentially making the credit union more resilient in tough times. Obviously, credit unions that are losing money are less able to do those things.
On Bankrate's test of earnings, SPACE CITY scored 20 out of a possible 30, beating out the national average of 10.11.
