Rita started out writing about the construction industry, but she has spent the last few years covering health, safety, personal finance and occasional stories on travel, careers and higher education.
Rita's freelance work has appeared in dozens of media outlets, including Arthritis Today, The Christian Science Monitor, Family Circle and Prevention.com. She is a frequent contributor to The Costco Connection and Edmunds.com and is former health page editor of Chicago Parent. Her clients also include nonprofits, alumni associations and corporate marketing offices, for which she has produced newsletters, special advertising supplements and B2B content. She has served on the editorial staff of Indiana Alumni Magazine, the American Foreign Service Association and Associated Builders and Contractors.
Rita earned her bachelor's degree from Trinity College in Washington, D.C., and her master's degree in international affairs from Columbia University in New York City.
A native of Somerville, Massachusetts, Rita lives just outside Chicago with her husband, son, mom and three cats. In her spare time, she's a hockey/soccer/lacrosse mom and PTA and Friends of the Library volunteer.
