The classics collectors

Many celebs prefer to go the old-car route, driving classic bangers, usually vintage American or British sports cars like Corvettes, MGs or Morgans.

Harrison Ford, who favors flying to get from A to B (he has a jet helicopter and five airplanes), arrived in Hollywood in a VW camper bus three decades ago.

Now he drives a 1966 British Racing Green Austin Healey 3000 two-seater when he's at his ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyo. If he's not driving his old step-side Chevy pickup truck, that is.

Hulk Hogan drives an older car, too: a 1994 Dodge Viper muscle car that's one of the fastest production cars ever.

"I've had a passion for cars for years," the Hulkster confesses. "I collect anything from Harleys to hot rods. There isn't any substitute for horsepower."

Just because some drive old cars it doesn't mean they're driving slow cars.

2001 SALEEN-S7

One classic carriage that does leave rubber on the road is the $395,000 carbon fiber two-seater Saleen S7, a painstakingly handcrafted marque.

This was the car Jim Carrey chose when he traded places with God in 'Bruce Almighty.' It's also driven by auto aficionados like Adam Sandler, baseball great Ken Griffey Jr., and Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage, who also tools around San Francisco in a $446,000 Lamborghini Miura once owned by the Shah of Iran.

Decadent doesn't describe Justin Timberlake's big-tag toys. His collection of a dozen or so cars includes three Mercedes, two Cadillac Escalades, an Audi TT, a Dodge Viper, a BMW and a Porsche. They won't all fit at once on the cobbled auto court of his Hollywood Hills home.

Tae-bo tycoon Billy Banks also favors a Viper, when he's not driving the $320,000 Lamborghini from his extensive collection of uber-cars. He took advanced high-speed driving lessons and ships some of his speedy wheels to secret, remote locations to flex their muscles.

"I like to be able to drive them," he says.
