1099-INT, Interest Income
Interest income can be generated from a variety of sources,
including banks, credit unions, savings and loan associations,
insurance companies and various government accounts.
The organization that provides you with interest income
is responsible for sending you Form 1099-INT.

Your Form 1099-INT contains
vital information, including: |
 |
|

box and what it shows |

As with wage statements, 1099s are required
to be issued by Jan. 31 each year. If you haven't received
these forms yet, contact the organizations. If they
tell you that they've mailed the form to you, ask for
a duplicate to be sent.
If you're anxious to start working on
your 1040, no problem: "You can request that information,
and get it verbally over the phone," says Paul
Leslie, tax researcher with National Association of
Tax Practitioners. Form 1099-INT does not get included
with your tax return.
