High school grad heading into the workforce: Your first car

Driving a cool car is fun, but nothing counts as much as safety. Be sure to consider the vehicle's safety features when buying a car. Newer models perform better in crash tests and have added protections such as air bags, passive restraints and anti-lock brakes.

Auto insurance is very expensive for young adults. Keep your costs as low as possible by shopping around for the best rates, select a safe car, steer clear of traffic tickets and study. Most insurers offer a "good student discount."
