By this time next year, Saturn will be selling two different hybrid crossover SUVs using the name Vue, with the Vue 2 Mode Hybrid debuting early in 2009.
The Vue, which is on the showroom floor now, offers a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine. It uses a similar hybrid technology to the Aura and squeezes 25 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles per gallon on the highway.
The Vue 2 Mode uses a more powerful hybrid
system, and will pack a 3.6-liter, six-cylinder engine under
the hood and a much more robust 300-volt electric motor. The
EPA efficiency estimates are still forthcoming, but because
they are based on a platform similar to other full-size General
Motors SUVs, analysts are hoping they will offer a much more
robust fuel savings.
Both Vue models can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
