Bankrate's 2008 Car Guide
Going green
Saving cash while saving the planet is great but is it cost-effective and the right move for you?
Green is beautiful
Number of hybrid choices soar

More hybrid choices
Cadillac Escalade Lexus RX 400h
Chevrolet Malibu Mazda Tribute
Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra Nissan Altima
Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon Saturn Aura
Chrysler Aspen/Dodge Durango Saturn Vue/ Vue 2 Mode Hybrid
Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner Toyota Camry
Honda Civic Toyota Highlander
Lexus GS 450h Toyota Prius
Lexus LS 600h L
Saturn Aura

Already a fuel-efficient car, Saturn's flagship sedan, the Aura, is about to get a little greener. That's because by late 2008, the Aura will be available equipped with General Motors' hybrid powertrain. This 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine, paired with an electric motor, will help the Aura squeeze a few more miles from a gallon of gas.

And while the benefits to the already-efficient car aren't earth-shattering, it does bring the EPA ratings to 26 mpg city and 34 mpg highway -- four miles better in the city and eight miles better on the highway. What's more, it gives this boost at a price that is thousands below many other hybrid sedans.
