By most measures, the current Mazda 6 is the best sedan ever to come from that manufacturer. It's stylish and nimble, but for some buyers it was a bit too compact. For 2009 Mazda is polishing up its flagship sedan, making it slightly larger for more room in the interior and in the trunk. To handle the larger size, the base four-cylinder engine has been bumped in size to 2.5 liters and to 170 horsepower. The V-6 is 3.7 liters and makes 272 horsepower. The four-cylinder gets 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, while the V-6 gets 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway. Changes to the chassis and suspension are touted as reducing vibration and road noise. |
