such a smooth process, happy i chose citibank over bank of america.
There were no surprises or issues with my application for the loan and with closing
on the home. Citi provided everything I needed very quickly and were fast to respond to calls/emails. I'd recommend them to friends and family.

Citi offered best rate. Signed commitment. Had appraisal done. Then they said they wouldn't be
able to lend to me. My co-op (1,700 apartments in NYC) "wasn't on their list." Why didn't they figure that out BEFORE the GFE/initial papers were signed? I finally got my way, but not after a month of wasted time and many anger-inducing calls to find someone there who had half a clue. If not, I would have been out $500, as appraisal is no transferable. They only get any positive marks for finally seeing the error of their ways. If you find a comparable rate from another lender, avoid Citi.
I used them to refinance and existing mortgage and had a bad experience. The loan
eventually closed but a lot of the third party services they use are more expensive then they should. That could do with the fact that they have an agreement with those companies that they pay money back to the citi. That is information is buried in a disclosure document that you have to read. Then there was a match between my attorney and citi mortgage with regards to who delayed the process. I would not recommend them
