Do NOT use citimortgage unless you have a desire to be put through the wringer.
I thought being an existing citi customer would make my refinance easier. WRONG. I have never been late on a payment and have good credit. Started the process in DECEMBER and still have NOT closed. This company is a joke. A bad one. They seldom answer the phone when you call and return messages even less. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing at this company. I have left messages for supervisors and managers and have yet to hear back from them. I honestly feel that no one at this company cares about the customers. Citimortgage has the worst customer service that I have EVER had the displeasure to work with.

I used them to refinance and existing mortgage and had a bad experience. The loan
eventually closed but a lot of the third party services they use are more expensive then they should. That could do with the fact that they have an agreement with those companies that they pay money back to the citi. That is information is buried in a disclosure document that you have to read. Then there was a match between my attorney and citi mortgage with regards to who delayed the process. I would not recommend them
Citi offered best rate. Signed commitment. Had appraisal done. Then they said they wouldn't be
able to lend to me. My co-op (1,700 apartments in NYC) "wasn't on their list." Why didn't they figure that out BEFORE the GFE/initial papers were signed? I finally got my way, but not after a month of wasted time and many anger-inducing calls to find someone there who had half a clue. If not, I would have been out $500, as appraisal is no transferable. They only get any positive marks for finally seeing the error of their ways. If you find a comparable rate from another lender, avoid Citi.
I have two mortgages with Citi. The mortgages total over $600,000. Never been late on
a payment. Not once in 12 years on two properties. Thier service is horrible. Rude personnel. Website offers little value. They want to charge a service fee for the simplest request. Bottom line is their business approach is archaic.
