It's Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, and a couple of the children who "worked" at Bankrate's New York office today attended our editorial story-idea meeting. Seven-year-old Elizabeth was inspired by all the personal finance conversations and wrote a short blog on saving money.
"How expensive it is having a dog"
By Elizabeth, second grade
Dogs are expensive to buy and shop for, but the most expensive thing is sweeters (sic). Don't believe me, try looking for a XX-small -- you never find it. Just like shopping for a leather or diemond (sic) jacket. You can look for a diemond (sic) collar, but it will be, I'd say, $100 to $1,000 dollars.
We think Elizabeth is on her way to becoming a savvy shopper!
