Many people and businesses are interested in owning electric cars and alternative-fuel vehicles, but are cautious without having an opportunity to fully test-drive them and learn more about recharging or refueling. GE is easing that process with its new Vehicle Innovation Center which opened this week in Eden Prairie, Minn. at GE Capital Fleet Services headquarters.
The center, the first of its kind according to GE Reports, gives GE customers the opportunity to test-drive cars such as the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt and other models powered by natural gas, propane, electricity and hydrogen, as well as explore related technology developed by GE, such as solar carports and commercial EV chargers. Cars from 20 automobile manufacturers are available for testing at the center as well as 6,000 square feet of classrooms and showrooms.
