Summer thrills in a supercar

You might think it's a rare chance to get behind the wheel of a $200,000 supercar and drive it like you stole it without getting in trouble with the law, but one company has created this bucket-list experience by bringing exotic supercars to Formula One-inspired racetracks in 17 cities across the country for "average Joes" to drive.

Those who dream about being race car drivers can experience the ultimate test drive behind the wheel of a Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Audi, Corvette, Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin, Porsche or Nissan by driving laps on road race courses throughout the country. Xtreme Xperience offers short experiences where participants experience three laps either as the driver or riding along, if they prefer a professional drive.

For those looking for more, they offer a half-day course where participants get behind the wheel of four different supercars and drive four, 20-minute sessions of the track with one-on-one coaching. While all of Xtreme Xperience's cars do not have limited or governed top speeds, they are all equipped with automatic transmissions to increase the comfort level for all drivers.

Just keep in mind, if you head out on a racetrack with your car or someone else's, your auto insurance most likely won't cover you for damage to the car, other property or medical needs. You'll want to get separate track insurance, which can be purchased from the organizer company or racetrack itself.
