With more than 9 million cars sold over nearly 50 years, the Mustang gets a major makeover for the 2015 model. On Dec. 5, Ford unveiled the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang in several simultaneous media events across the country.
The American icon features an entirely new exterior design that retains the classic Mustang design elements, including the long, sculpted hood and the short rear deck. Compared with the current model, the 2015 Ford Mustang has a lower, wider stance with a lower roof height. The fastback style has returned with a more steeply sloped windshield and rear glass, as well as a modern rendering of the Mustang's signature "shark bite" front end and trapezoid-shaped grille.
Buyers will have a choice of three engines: upgraded versions of the 3.7-liter V-6 and the 5-liter V-8, as well as a new 2.3-liter engine, featuring Ford's fuel-efficient EcoBoost technology. Handling also has improved due to all-new front and rear suspension as well as a new stability control system.
All models of the 2015 Ford Mustang, including hardtop and convertible versions, will feature a special badge celebrating the 50th anniversary that includes the iconic galloping pony logo and the words "Mustang—Since 1964." On April 17, 2014, it will be 50 years to the day since the introduction of the original Mustang.
