If you are the type of person who wants a new car but also wants to customize it so it stands out from the crowd, the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show held earlier this week is the place to see the latest trends in car customization.
The folks at SEMA looked at this year's trending vehicles for the SEMA Award, which honors the hottest models in four categories. This year's winners were the Ford Mustang (hottest car), Scion FR-S (hottest sport compact), Ford F-Series (hottest truck) and the Jeep Wrangler (hottest SUV, shown here with Mopar CEO Pietro Gorlier accepting the award).
The SEMA Award recognizes car models that provide the best platforms for accessorization and are considered the most "accessory friendly" ones on the market, according to SEMA President and CEO Christopher Kersting. Sometimes car accessories can be added when the car is originally purchased, allowing their cost to be rolled into the auto loan and spread out over the course of the loan term.
To arrive at the winners, SEMA Show workers considered car models on display by more than 2,400 exhibiting companies. The winner for each category was the car model that had the most vehicles on display.
Do you agree that these are the hottest cars?
