Just a quick note: General Motors has announced pricing for its Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid car. At $41,000, the base Volt is more expensive than industry insiders had speculated, and represents something of a gamble for GM. The General has spent $750 million developing this car, and if it prices the car out of the market and sales are dismal, that investment could be jeopardized.
After you take tax credits into account, the base Volt should come in at around $33,500. That's significantly higher than the all-electric Nissan Leaf's $25,000 after-tax price tag.
What do you think? Is $33,500 too much to pay for a compact sedan? Is GM making a good bet?

Too much. It's not a luxury vehicle and doesn't deserve a luxury price. I wouldn't pay it unless I can get a heck of a discount AND free financing or something else of the sort. Otherwise Toyota will remain on the top of my list.
Price is too high. Guess you need to recoup those labor costs.
You should also take in the fact that this car has an onboard generator not to mention the leaf is little more than a versa in terms of size and style. This is a very nice looking car imho.
Too expensive with little room. The fuel savings are not enough to offset the price.
