General Motors is recalling 300,000 Chevrolet Impalas from the 2009 and 2010 model years for a potentially dangerous seat belt defect.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the cars in question may have improperly attached seat belt webbing that could come free from the lap belt anchor in a car accident, providing little protection for the car's passengers.
If you own one of these cars, take it immediately to the nearest GM dealership for a seat belt retrofit to fix the problem. If you're not sure whether your car is covered or you need more information, you can contact Chevrolet at (800) 630-2438.
