What to buy in December

If holiday shopping is breaking the bank, you might find some relief in knowing what's on sale this month. Surprisingly, a lot of the items that people are shopping for anyway might be marked down.

First, you might find jewelry at a discount. Not every necklace and ring in the stores will be marked down, but trendy jewelry you could find marked down from 30% to 50% off.

While scratching items off your Christmas list, keep an eye out for educational toys. They don't see as much promotion during the holiday season and tend to have a lower price tag. And if you have a bookworm on your list, value-priced books will be as much as 50% off.

For the gadget-lovers on your list, e-readers and tablets make a great gift. You can save a lot by purchasing the previous generation of products, things that were released 6 months ago or last year, instead of the newest upgraded models. If you're in the market for a TV, lesser known brands might be on sale this month, as well.

And finally, citrus fruits, nuts, and winter vegetables are all in season, so head to the grocery store to find a good deal in the grocery store.
