Save money on holiday travel

 

There's no place like home for the holidays, but the cost of getting home is enough to extinguish your holiday cheer.

Airfare during peak season, checked bag fees, taxi fares, and rental car costs are all reasons to hate travelling during the holidays, but you can take ease some of the bite by following these travel tips. If you're still looking, you probably missed out on the lowest airfare prices, which come around in October. But being a little flexible about your dates is a good way to land cheaper flights. Remember that most people will have the same days off around the holidays, so if you can avoid those peak travel days, you'll be better off.

Travel light to avoid checked bag and overweight baggage fees and bring your own snacks to avoid having to eat in the airports.
