Intro: Depending on your age, you might be feeling a bit more optimistic about the economy. Bankrate.com's monthly Financial Security Index asked Americans if they're feeling the economy is rebounding and if the recovery will continue throughout 2012 ... here's what they had to say.
Everything costs more. People are not making what they used to make as far as salaries, if they have a salary at all. There are a lot of hardships out there.
I think that it starting to very slow show it is recovering I think that as long as we create more jobs and look for more creative ways to do that. Slowly but surely it will.
It depends on a lot of factors, including where Gas prices are going. I know that has a lot to do with it, especially in the summertime, when they travel and so on.
I don't think it will happen in my lifetime. I don t see it happening. I feel sorry for the young folks. Like my daughter who is still in college. What is she going to do when she gets done? I don't know if the jobs are there for young people when they get out.
I think it is getting a lot better. Gas prices have nothing to do with the president. It's the Wall Street speculators, but I think the economy has improved and will improve.
Are they zooming us with smoke and mirrors and just letting us think the economy is getting better? We don't really know. It's kind of like one of those things. You go to a haunted house and think everything is real and until you come out the other end. And we won't know until we go through that other door post-election to see. For now, let's enjoy the thrill and fright of the haunted house.
