CD rates for April 24, 2014


I'm Greg McBride, chief analyst with, and here is your weekly look at yields on certificates of deposit.

The story with deposit products has long been one of very minor moves, and this week is no exception. The only movement seen was on five-year certificates of deposit. The average five-year CD yield inched up to 0.8 percent, and the larger jumbo five-year CD yield is now 0.84 percent. In both cases, yields remain in the very tight range seen over the past 12 months.

With the Federal Reserve still pledging to keep interest rates low for some time, the forecast for savers calls for more of these same dreadfully low yields.
