What is extended coverage?

The Bankrate.com financial term of the day is: "extended coverage."

With extended coverage, your health insurance company can say, "Time's up," but you can say, "not so fast." The insurance policy can expire, and yet the benefits will continue for a medical issue that's ongoing, such as pregnancy. If a woman is pregnant at the time the policy is terminated, her maternity expenses will still be covered.

You can hit the end of the road with your health plan but still get more mileage out of the policy, thanks to extended coverage.
