On the daily trolley tours that he runs through Albuquerque, N.M., Jesse Herron noticed that many of his customers were fans of the Emmy Award-winning TV show "Breaking Bad" -- and that some had traveled to New Mexico just to follow in the steps of the characters.
So when the series launched its fifth and final season in July, Herron set up nine three-hour tours geared specifically for fans. These "Breaking Bad" tours "sold out in minutes," Herron says. The company now has 75 to 100 names on a wait list and will likely bring the location tours back later in the year.
Many people plan vacation travel based on places they've seen on TV, even if that world is fictional. OnLocationVacations.com documents where TV and movies are filmed and gives fans pertinent information about location sites.
An example: Did you know you could stay where the fictional title character lived on the show "Veronica Mars" a few years back? You can, because it's The Inn at Sunset Cliffs in Point Loma, Calif.
Now, grab your bags -- and the remote -- as we look at locations where some of the current era's most lauded TV shows have inspired tours.
