New Orleans travel and tourism have been rebounding from Hurricane Katrina -- and the fictional HBO series "Treme" (pronounced treh-MAY) has been documenting that comeback. And while you can still take "Katrina tours" that concentrate on the city's destruction and rebirth, "Tour Treme" has created a walking tour that takes you through New Orleans' historic African-American neighborhood seen on the TV show.
The tour focuses more on Treme's history as the cradle of jazz than on the minutiae of the actual TV show. Another aim is to give a sense of why New Orleans' neighborhoods are so important to the city's past -- and how they influence the present.
What you see: Radio station WWOZ, where Steve Zahn's disc jockey character, Davis McAlary, works on the show; Lil' Dizzy's, a restaurant where several characters frequently eat
Most popular stop: The house where Zahn's "DJ Davis" character lives
Tour frequency: Daily
Cost (per adult): $22 or less for two-hour tour
