6 cities with the highest money market rates

Insured by the FDIC, money market accounts offer a convenient parking spot for money. Because of the backstop from deposit insurance, MMAs don't offer a lot of yield. In these worst of times for rates, money market account rates are quite low.

The average rate in the top 25 largest markets is 0.09 percent, but banks in some cities offer better rates. Here we show six cities with the highest money market rates between Jan. 1, 2013 and Oct. 23, 2013.
