Credit card rates stayed steady for the second straight week, according to Bankrate's latest survey of interest rates. The average annual percentage rate, or APR, for variable-rate credit cards remained at 14.48 percent, while the fixed rate didn't budge from 13.85 percent.
More Americans are reducing their credit card debt and paying their bills on time, according to two recent reports. The Federal Reserve said revolving credit, which includes credit cards, fell by $2.2 billion in August from July. Meanwhile, the percentage of consumers who were 30 days late or more on their credit card payments fell in the second quarter to 3.22 percent from 3.4 percent in the previous quarter.
