Credit card rates remained unchanged this week, according to Bankrate's latest survey of interest rates. The average annual percentage rate, or APR, for variable-rate credit cards stayed steady at 14.52 percent. The fixed APR didn't move from 13.81 percent, where it has been since the beginning of March.
Americans added to their credit card balances in the second quarter but managed to pay their credit card bills on time more often, according to a report Tuesday from credit reporting bureau TransUnion. The average credit card debt per borrower edged up less than 1 percent to $4,971 in the second quarter from $4,962 in the first quarter. Delinquencies fell to 0.63 percent in the second quarter from 0.73 percent in the first three months of the year.
