Credit card rates didn't move this week, according to Bankrate's latest survey of interest rates. The average annual percentage rate for variable-rate credit cards stayed steady at 14.49 percent. The fixed APR rate was 13.71 percent, where it has remained since late October.
Americans paid down their credit card debt last month, according to a report released Wednesday from consumer credit advocate CreditKarma.com. The average consumer's credit card debt slipped 8 percent to $6,069 in January from December. Wisconsin was the only state in the nation to post an increase to its average credit card balance, rising 4 percent to $5,266, the report says.
