A troika of box-shaped cars -- aimed squarely at 16- to 30-year-olds -- combines stingy fuel economy, imaginative interior space and a fun-to-drive attitude to suck the blandness from the entry-level automobile segment.

This spring the Kia Soul and Nissan Cube joined the Scion xB to form this trio of hard-to-miss cars that target a consumer segment in search of an automotive identity and a shape it can call its own.
