New for '09: Porche Cayenne
Porche Cayenne hybrid | |
| | | | | The Porsche Cayenne SUV has proved a popular vehicle for a builder that made its bones as a maker of sports cars. Now Porsche is moving into territory previously unthinkable -- a gas-electric hybrid that aims to improve the Cayenne's fuel mileage. Porsche says the hybrid is on target for 2009 and that the electric motor will be coupled to its 3.6-liter V-6, which normally makes 290 horsepower. The target for the hybrid is 24 mpg to 26 mpg combined city and highway mileage, which would be 25 percent better than the current V-6 Cayenne. Prices would likely be well north of $50,000. | | |
