New for '09: Acura TL

Acura TL Sedan

At one time, the Acura TL was the value entry-level luxury sedan from among the BMW 3 Series, the Mercedes-Benz C Class and the Lexus ES sedan. It was sportier and had a longer list of standard equipment than the competition, but it's long overdue for a makeover, and this fall Acura will oblige with an all-new TL. The new TL will come in two models, a base version with front-wheel-drive and a 280-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6. The upscale version will have all-wheel drive and a 310-horsepower 3.7-liter V-6. Both numbers are up from the 2008 models. No word on fuel mileage for the 2009 models, but expect the rating to equal or better the 2008 return of 18 mpg city, 26 mpg highway.

You might think that knowing when to turn on our car headlights requires only common sense, but U.S. laws actually vary widely.
