Here's a look at the state of home equity rates from Bankrate.com's weekly national survey of large banks and thrifts conducted July 21, 2010.
Rates on home equity products split this week
The average home equity line of credit, or HELOC, fell 5 basis points, to 5.54 percent.
Meanwhile, home equity loan rates remained unchanged at 7.27 percent. That's the lowest rate since October 2005.
