Credit Cards

  • 13.36% (all fixed)
  • 14.42% (all variable)

Here's a look at the state of credit card rates from Bankrate.com's weekly national survey of large banks and thrifts conducted June 15, 2011.

Credit card rates remained unchanged in Bankrate's latest survey of interest rates. The average annual percentage rate for variable-rate credit cards held steady at 14.42 percent. The fixed rate for credit card purchases stood at 13.36 percent, where it has been all year.

On Tuesday, FICO said it's teaming up with Adeptra to offer automated fraud alerts for suspicious activity on credit cards. The system is designed to flag and investigate unusual credit card transactions, and then contact customers by telephone, text and email. The announcement comes after Citigroup said last week that hackers broke into its online credit card account system and stole personal data belonging to about 210,000 customers.
