Credit Cards
- 13.36% (all fixed)
- 14.4% (all variable)
Credit card rates were unchanged from last week, according to Bankrate's latest survey of interest rates. The average APR for variable-rate credit cards stayed steady at 14.4 percent. The fixed rate, which hasn't changed all year, remained at 13.36 percent.
A study from TransUnion Wednesday showed that consumers made $72 billion more in credit card payments than purchases from the first quarter of 2009 to the same time in 2010. That refutes a belief in the industry that credit card debt fell because lenders closed more delinquent accounts. The study also showed that the average credit card debt per borrower hit a 10-year low in the first quarter of this year.
