Kia

Originally founded in 1944 as a bicycle and steel tubing company, Kia expanded its manufacturing and production throughout the 1960s and 1970s to begin making cars and trucks. Kia first began selling cars in America in 1992, and today Kia Motors America sells a line of 10 models of SUVs, minivans and passenger cars at more than 670 U.S. dealerships. A subsidiary of Hyundai, the brand has expanded in the U.S. auto market for the past 15 years.

Internationally, it operates manufacturing and assembly plants in 15 countries with sales and service divisions in 172 countries. Kia opened its first American manufacturing plant in West Point, Ga., in 2009.

Affordability at Kia

Kia's model line appeals to price-savvy car shoppers. All passenger cars begin at less than $18,000, while starting MSRPs for the company's line of crossovers, minivans and SUVs range from $18,000 to $26,000.

The Kia Warranty

Kia is well-known for its 10-year/100,000-mile warranty program, which is longer than many of its competitors. As with any extended warranty, customers should read the fine print to understand what the program covers.

While its global headquarters are located in Seoul, South Korea, Kia opened a new U.S. corporate headquarters in 2008 here:

111 Peters Canyon Road
Irvine, CA 92606

To reach the U.S. headquarters, drivers can call (949)468-4800.
