Negotiating the price on a leased car

Dear Terry,
Buying is not an option for me. I am going to lease a 2007 car. I will have an Extended Family discounted price. What is negotiable and how? Mileage is not a problem. Thank you -- your insight will be appreciated.

Dear Stephanie,
I assume that the "Extended Family discount" you refer to is one of the programs offered by some manufacturers to people who work for suppliers or family members of people who work for the manufacturer. If that's the case, the program sets the car's price and there's usually no negotiation.

The price will likely be less than you could get without the discount, so the dealer won't cut it any further. Also, dealers are not obligated to honor the program, though most will. While there may be some wiggle room in the residual price in the lease, which could affect the payment by a few dollars, you're pretty much facing a no-haggle situation.
