After a hiatus, the Chevrolet Camaro convertible returned to cheers from American muscle-car enthusiasts. The convertible version comes in four model options -- 1LT, 1SS, 2SS and, ZL1 -- and a choice of four powertrains.
The base model features a 323-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 paired with a six-speed manual transmission that gets 17 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.
There are two SS models. The base SS model, which starts at $38,685, features a 400-horsepower 6.2-liter V-8 with Active Fuel Management and a six-speed automatic transmission that gives it an estimated 16 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. The 2SS model's 6.2-liter V-8 produces 426 horsepower and still gets the same fuel economy, thanks to the use of a six-speed manual transmission.
Those interested in a high-performance convertible will want to check out the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 convertible at a $59,545 starting price. It is powered by a 580-horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 rated at 14 mpg city and 19 mpg highway. All Camaro convertibles are rear-wheel drive with a power folding top and feature a heads-up display, rear park assist, air bags and stability control.
