Fuel economy: 40 highway mpg

The 2012 Hyundai Veloster is the replacement for the Hyundai Tiburon. This coupe has a hatchback rear and three side doors -- two front doors and one forward-opening, rear passenger, side door. With a design inspired by motorcycles, the Veloster technically seats four, though the rear seat is better suited for children than adults.

Features include a 7-inch display with Bluetooth, voice recognition and a USB port for playing videos when the car is parked. The Veloster is powered by a 138-horsepower, 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. Though official EPA-estimated fuel economy figures were not available at press time, Hyundai expects the Veloster will get 40 mpg on the highway when paired with the six-speed automatic transmission. Pricing also had not been announced at press time.
