Wedding season is in full swing. You can cut your big-day costs without being chintzy. I'm Janet Stauble with your Bankrate.com Personal Finance Minute.

Skip the pricey printer for your save-the-dates. Have a cute couple photo? Costco and drugstores can turn it into postcards.

If you want a sit-down dinner, cut a course or trim your guest list to stay within budget. Take advantage of trends. Food trucks are hot now. You can get funky upscale eats for $25 a head.

Don't be a cake snob. Grocery bakeries with wedding experience make great cakes, and no one will know where it's from.

Get more bang for your bar tab by buying alcohol in bulk instead of having the venue provide drinks. Offer a couple choice cocktails, craft beer and wine instead of a full bar.

Want live music at your reception? Save by hiring a solo artist instead of a 12-person band. A DJ or Spotify playlist are even thriftier options.

And remember to repurpose those bridesmaid bouquets as reception décor.
