What's a Rate Alert?
A Rate Alert is an e-mail notification that mortgage
rates in the market you selected have dropped below the target range you
set. For instance, if you're monitoring 30-year fixed mortgages in Detroit
and you set 5.75 percent as your target, whenever rates fall below that
you'll receive a Rate Alert.
Can I track rates for more than one type of mortgage?
Yes! You can track up to three mortgage types when you
subscribe to Rate Alerts. So, for example, you can track rates for a 30-year
fixed mortgage, a 15-year fixed mortgage and a one-year adjustable rate
mortgage for your local area at the same time!
Why should I sign up?
If you're in the market for a mortgage, you probably
already know that mortgage rates change daily. You certainly wouldn't want
to lock into a rate, only to find out that rates have dropped further afterwards.
You could constantly check Bankrate.com to see if rates have fallen, or
you could save yourself all the time and effort and let us do the work for
you!
How often will I receive them?
It's difficult to say -- mortgage rates fluctuate. As
soon as mortgage rates drop below your target in your selected area, you'll
receive a Rate Alert.
What if I need to make changes to my Rate Alert?
It's easy! All you have to do is click on any of the
Rate Alert links located throughout the Bankrate site, click on "My
Alerts" and make your edits.
