Don't burn your bridges

While it may be tempting to tell your boss to take your job and shove it, you'll only be hurting yourself. The temporary shock you may cause your soon-to-be-ex employer will seem petty should you ever need a reference -- or worse, need to come crawling back.

Be prepared to write a professional, non-emotional resignation letter, and to give proper notice if you can.

Maintain your composure and wait to do the "happy dance" until you are out the door and on the way to your new career.
