Rate: 5.74 percent (line of credit); 8.43 percent (loan)

Rates on home equity products split this week.

The average home equity line of credit, or HELOC, edged up 1 basis point, to 5.74 percent. Home equity loan rates slipped 4 basis points, to 8.43 percent.
