Anchor Intro: If you're in the market for a temporary job, the holidays is your season: Many companies traditionally add workers between now and the first of the year. And some of those jobs might lead to full-time work. Bankrate.com has some ideas to help you start the hunt.
Voice over 1: The holiday season is one of the most expensive of the year, but it's also a time when it's most possible to pick up extra work. The classic example, of course, is stores that add workers for holiday shopping crowds.
Voice over 2: But there are also less traditional places that you might consider for temporary work. Example? Helping pet sitters with their busiest season.
SOT: "Oh, we are very busy, very busy. I would say some days 17 hours working."
Voice over 3: But be prepared to prove you're dog-gone trustworthy.
Voice over 4: If you've got office skills, register with a temp service. This is heavy vacation season for office workers, which makes it prime time for temp workers, and maybe the best path to full time work.
Voice over 5: If you've got food- service experience, restaurants could be hiring, and even if you don't, check out caterers: It's definitely their busiest time of the year.
Voice over 6: Warehouses and distribution centers could be hiring.
Voice over 7: And here's a unique idea: Be a secret shopper, someone who evaluates products and services in stores or restaurants. Depending on the gig, you could get paid or at least get a free meal.
SOT: "We get our food paid for up to a capped amount. And a lot of companies then give you a token -- maybe 5, 7 dollars just to cover your time and gasoline and everything."
